We participated in "Raptors Tank," a contest similar to Shark Tank, where students pitched innovative ideas to a panel of judges. Our project, Skoopsquad, is an app designed for campus students that operates like Uber, connecting students with similar interests to carpool together to school. We secured 3rd place in the competition.
It all begins with an idea. Maybe you want to launch a business. Maybe you want to turn a hobby into something more. Or maybe you have a creative project to share with the world. Whatever it is, the way you tell your story online can make all the difference.
SkoopSquad is a unique app designed exclusively for Montgomery College students, offering a tailored platform that sets it apart from generic alternatives. Currently in a trial phase for MC students only, SkoopSquad fosters a close-knit community by focusing on meaningful connections, whether for academic collaboration, professional networking, or building friendships. Unlike other apps, SkoopSquad is affordable, providing premium features at a fraction of the cost to ensure accessibility for all students. By prioritizing genuine interactions and a sense of belonging, SkoopSquad helps create a stronger, more connected campus culture while addressing the specific needs of MC students.
SkoopSquad’s primary market group consists of Montgomery College students who rely on diverse transportation methods, including public transit users, solo drivers, and walkers. Public transport students often seek efficient ways to coordinate with peers for shared rides or study meetups, maximizing their commute time. Solo drivers benefit from opportunities to connect with others for potential carpooling, saving on fuel costs and promoting sustainability. Walkers, who may prefer nearby campus connections, find value in local meetups or study groups to enhance their daily routines. By addressing the unique needs of these groups, SkoopSquad provides a platform that fosters convenience, collaboration, and a sense of community, no matter how students get around.
The SkoopSquad app page is simple, clean, and easy to use, designed specifically for Montgomery College students. It features a bold red and white color scheme, with the SkoopSquad logo and “Web App” title at the top for clear branding. The form asks for basic information like the user’s major, graduation semester, number of classes, and Venmo handle, making registration quick and straightforward. A red “Schedules” button at the bottom stands out, guiding users to the next step. The design is minimalistic and functional, perfect for busy students.
